Attention Students: There is to be NO graffiti on the outside or inside of your lockers. 
 
There are still quite a few Whiteside punch passes and a few Sauk student passes. Please come and pick those up. 
 
Amber Truitt and Sage Arellano need to see Mrs. Fredericks in the office. She has your student ID’s. 
 
Last year’s varsity baseball players that are planning on going out this year, please meet in the gym during 2nd resource today. 
 
The Flag Corps will rehearse today from 2:20-3:10 p.m. in the auditorium. Tomorrow’s rehearsal will be from 7:30-8:00 a.m. and at 5:30 p.m. to warm-up for the football game performance. 
 
Band, chorus, and flag corps members are reminded to bring their cookie dough order forms and money to Mrs. Mekeel tomorrow. 
 
FFA members – Farm Progress Show pre-approval forms are due to Mr. Streit by 3:30 on Friday. They will not be accepted late. 
 
Any freshman interested in running for class office should see Mrs. Becker in room 210 for a petition. Signed petitions are due to Mrs. Zinke by 3:30 p.m. next Monday, Aug. 27.

The FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team won 1st place at the Section 2 contest last night. Team members were Andy Bulfer, Nicolle Ely, Joe Dickinson, Jeremy Wolf, Morgan Spangler and Will Klein. Andy was 2nd place chairman, Nicolle was 1st place secretary and 4th place floor member and Morgan was 1st place overall individual. 
 
There is no girls basketball game tonight at home. They will be traveling to Fulton instead. 
 
The following students need to see Mrs. Carlson in her room today during 1st resource to get your candles: Josh Dempsey, Dustin Crawford, Katie McCoy and Courtney Boyle. 
 
A reminder to band students – the game has been cancelled for tonight – so no pep band. We will play tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 8. 
 
Yearbook staff will work today after school from 3:20-4:30. 
 
Dance team will practice tonight from 6-8:30. You do not need to bring your uniform. 
 
Students who took the PSAT/NMSQT test back on Oct. 18 should make an appointment with Mr. Sauter to see their results. 
 
Key Club needs two volunteers for “Character reading” at Central. 
 
Student Council will be having Christmas and MORP dress-up days during next week and the 2 days the following week. Dress-up days are as follows:

Student Council will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Bring your pop tabs in to your resource teacher. The resource with the most pop tabs on Friday, Dec. 15 will receive a pizza party on Monday, Dec. 18. 
 
Amboy Key Club will be collecting new toys for Toys for Tots. The last day for collection will be Dec. 10. Please put the toys in the barrels around the school. For further information, please contact Jenna Didier or Mr. Johnson. 
 
Clipper Basketball t-shirts are now on sale for $8.00. See Mr. Pasley if interested. 
 
Student Council will be collecting canned goods until Thursday, Dec.7. Our goal will be 750 cans. A prize will be announced at a later date for the whole school, if we meet this goal. There will also be a prize for the class that collects the most cans. 
 
Juniors, if you would be interested in being an Illinois governmental intern during you senior year, you should stop in the guidance office for a program application. Deadline for applying for this program is April 7, 2007 but you are encouraged to begin the process early, as it is fairly lengthy.  
 
Attention Seniors: Although there are still no individual PSAE result sheets available, you can check in the guidance office starting today, to see if you qualified to be exempt from all or half of your finals. If you are exempt from half of your finals, you will have to let Mr. Sauter know by Friday, in writing, what finals you will be taking, otherwise he will choose, and we all know that won’t be pretty! 
 
Seniors who will be attending Sauk next semester as a dual enrollment student must stop in the guidance office to complete Sauk’s dual enrollment forms, which were just received. Failure to do this will mean the loss of the ACE grant which covers ½ of your tuition.

Band, chorus, and flag corps members are reminded to turn in their fruit fundraiser forms and money to Mrs. Mekeel today. All forms must be turned in tomorrow!! 
 
Chorus members singing the National Anthem at tonight’s wrestling match should meet in the auditorium at 5:30 p.m. 
 
Please stop in the office this week to fill out a card with your name on it as you want it to appear on your diploma.

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship. To be eligible you must be planning to major in engineering, have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 29 in math and 25 in English. The award will be for a minimum of $1,000 but could be higher. Deadline is 1/19/07. 
 
Attention Juniors: The Discover Card Scholarship is available and to be eligible you must have a 2.75 GPA or better and must have overcome a significant obstacle in your life. Minimum award is $2,500. Deadline is 1/31/07. See Mr. Sauter for details. 
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are available in the guidance office for a new scholarship, the Odd Fellows Scholarship. The Oddfellows is a service organization, like Kiwanis, and their scholarship is for a minimum of $500 but could go to $1,000. The deadline is 3/1/07. 
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarship. To be eligible for this award you must hold a current hunting license and have a 3.0 GPA. The award can range from $250 to $1,000. The deadline is 2/1/07. See Mr. Sauter for details.

The Amboy Varsity Girls Basketball fell to Prophetstown 44-37 in the Oregon Tournament last night. Paige Lovgren led the Lady Clippers with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. Ebony Harrison added 7 rebounds and 4 steals, while Jessica Walter had 6 rebounds. The girls play Polo tonight at 5:45. 
 
Attention Freshmen: Your fundraiser will be delivered today. You will be called out of your A4 class at 3:00 p.m. by homeroom to pick up your order. Be sure you have a way to get it home. Please deliver it promptly. Report any missing or damaged items to Mrs. Gelander, who will explain how to report it to the company. 
 
The following students should see Mrs. Mekeel today: Warren Bontz, Kaylee Jones, Josh Dempsey, Cameron Jacobs, Brittany Fuller, Lexi Klein, Michelle Pool, Bethany Wittenauer, Sheena Kemp, and Kourtney Vaessen.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all mat managers this Friday at 3:30 in the cafeteria. 
 
The office will only be giving out change after 3:20. Students will not be able to get change in the office during school hours.  
 
Applications are now available in the Guidance office for the Elks National Foundation Scholarship and the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship. The deadline for both is 1/12/07. The Legacy Award is for $1,000 and the Most Valuable Student Award can be worth from $4,000 to $60,000. Anyone can apply for the MVP Award, for the Legacy Award you must be the child or grandchild of a current member. See Mr. Sauter for details. 
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the KSB Hospital Scholarship. This scholarship is open to any student planning to major in a healthcare related field. This is a $1,000 scholarship and the deadline is April 30. See Mr. Sauter for details. 
 
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Burger King Scholarship Award. This scholarship is open to students who work a minimum of 15 hours per week, have a 2.5 GPA or better, and who can demonstrate a financial need. The award is for $1,000 and the deadline is 12/01/06.

FFA crops team placed 3rd in Section 2 competition last night. Emily Setchell was 5th and Riley Klein as 10th as individuals. Amboy had 48 individuals participate, an all time record. 
 
Friday will be Red, Black, and White Day and Playoff T-shirt Day in support of the football team. 
 
Tickets for Saturday’s playoff game will be on sale this week in the office. Tickets are $6.00 for everyone. 
 
Cheerleaders: Meet in Mrs. Carlson’s room during 1st resource today for picture forms and uniforms. 
 
Academic Team: We will be leaving at 3:45 today for the meet. 
 
There will be Parli Pro practice today during 2nd resource. 
 
2nd resource in Ms. Yeske’s room will not be open today due to the yearbook staff meeting to be held over both resources. We apologize for the inconvenience. 
 
Band students should bring their coats to class today. 
 
Girls basketball practice has been changed to 3:35-5:35 this afternoon with uniform distribution following today’s practice.

To set the record straight: Mrs. Travi was not cheering for Hampshire on Saturday. She has been an Amboy Clipper for the past 36 years! She coached FS and varsity volleyball, FS and varsity girls basketball, the FS and varsity football cheerleaders, basketball cheerleaders, and yes, wrestling cheerleaders for many years. In fact, she was cheering for Amboy when Coach Jones was playing for the Clippers! So no, Mrs. Travi did not cheer for Hampshire on Saturday. 
 
The Morp Dance has been postponed until a later date due to the Clipper victory! It has not been cancelled! We will announce the makeup date as soon as we know. 
 
AHS Key Club is collecting toys for the Amboy ESDA to help out needy children in our school district. We would like toys given to any Key Club member or to Mr. Johnson. Your help will be appreciated by those in need. 
 
The Student Council will be selling Clipper drawstring bags this week. They will be sold at most home events and can be purchased through Mrs. Lindenmeyer or Britainy Ohlendorf.

Football playoff t-shirts are available in the office for $10.00. We also have the long sleeved shirts that were preordered. If you preordered one, please bring your $20.00 in and pick it up. 
 
Band members should bring their coats to class today. 
 
All volleyball players who haven’t turned in their uniforms should meet with Mrs. Whitman today after school in the cafeteria to turn uniforms in. No awards will be given if your uniform is not turned in.

There are many students turning in lunch money without their ID number on the check. Please be sure to put your number on your deposit to ensure the money is posted to the correct amount.

All seniors need to bring their completed graduation order form and deposit to school on Friday, Oct. 20 from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. This is the only day that orders can be turned in at school. Please have your name and address and your height and weight filled in on your order form for your cap & gown. 
 
The Teen Activity Center is sponsoring a trip to the Asylum of Mad Dreams in Morrison this Saturday, Oct. 21. The cost is $13.00 and you need to be at the community building at 5:30 p.m. The bus leaves at 6:00 p.m. You are to bring extra money for Culvers and you will return between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. Sign-up in the high school office. You must have a disclaimer form signed by the teen and parent before you may attend. Please see TAC officers Anthony Wells, Brittany Fuller or Bethany Wittenauer. 
 
Attention Seniors: Another college has been added to our list of college visits. Ashford University will be here on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. See Mr. Sauter if you wish to attend their presentation. 
 
Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Wal-Mart Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship and the deadline for application is 1-12-07. This is a national competition, but last year we had two students win these scholarships. It is worth going after this one. 
 
Attention Seniors: There are two new scholarship opportunities in the guidance office. The American Society of Civil Engineers Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship for students planning to major in civil engineering. The deadline is April 1, 2007. 
 
The Lincolnland Legends Scholarship is an essay competition open to all students planning to attend college. The deadline is Dec. 1, 2006 and the amount is $2,500. 
 
Attention Seniors: Application information is now available in the guidance office for two new scholarships. The first of these is the Coca Cola Scholarship. This is a national scholarship and the minimum award is $10,000. The deadline is 10/31/06. An Amboy student has previously won one of these awards. 
 
The second scholarship is the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award. This is also a national competition. The deadline for this application is also 10/31/06 and the maximum award is $6,000.00. Please see the guidance office if you have any questions about either of these scholarships. 
 
Seniors with critical financial need for college tuition may apply for the Horatio Alger scholarship. The deadline is Oct. 30, 2006, and the awards can vary from $1,000 to $20,000. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required to be eligible. See the guidance office for further information.

Attention Seniors: There are two new scholarship opportunities in the guidance office. The American Society of Civil Engineers Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship for students planning to major in civil engineering. The deadline is April 1, 2007. 
 
The Lincolnland Legends Scholarship is an essay competition open to all students planning to attend college. The deadline is Dec. 1, 2006 and the amount is $2,500.

This is a national scholarship and the minimum award is $10,000. The deadline is 10/31/06. An Amboy student has previously won one of these awards. 
 
The second scholarship is the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award. This is also a national competition. The deadline for this application is also 10/31/06 and the maximum award is $6,000.00. Please see the guidance office if you have any questions about either of these scholarships. 
 
Seniors with critical financial need for college tuition may apply for the Horatio Alger scholarship. The deadline is Oct. 30, 2006, and the awards can vary from $1,000 to $20,000. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required to be eligible. See the guidance office for further information.

The girls cross country team finished in 6th place last night. Aprille Froelich finished 24th and Jessica Schnaiter 30th. The boys team finished in 8th place. Luke DeLong finished 21st and Nate Stevens 27th. 
 
Band students are reminded to meet in the auditorium at 6:15 p.m. tonight to warm-up for skits. We will begin playing at 6:40 p.m. 
 
Flag corps will meet in the auditorium tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 29 at 5:30 p.m. to warm-up for the football game performance. 
 
There will be no Whiteside tomorrow due to the Homecoming activities.

The varsity golf team finished with a 181 last night. Dylan Pearson was low with a 43 and Andy Schultz finished with a 45. JV’s total was 195. Alex Setters was a medalist with 42, Lydia Leffelman finished a 49 and Katie Henkel a 52. 
 
At the Byron Cross Country Invite Nate Stevens was 37th, Wayland Froelich 53rd, Luke DeLong 54th, Aprille Froelich 28th, Jessica Schnaiter 32nd, Courtney Olson 56th, Anna Schulz 57th, Erin Blackburn 61st, and Katie O’Rorke 80th. Sage Arellano, Koryn Kasner, and Rachel Jones ran in the Open Race. 
 
There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing basketball in Room 217 during 1st resource today.
