The Flag Corps will rehearse today from 2:20-3:10 p.m. in the auditorium and tomorrow from 7:30-8:00 a.m. and 2:20-3:10 p.m.
Yearbook staff will meet today after school to plan this year's yearbook.
Sophomores, pick up a class officer petition from Mrs. Gelander in Room 214 and return it by 2:20 p.m. today. Requirements are listed on the petition. This year a speech discussing your goals and leadership ability will be given before the voting during resource on Thursday, Aug. 23. The speech must be a minimum of 1 minute. Report to your classroom for attendance and then to the auditorium. Bring something to write with. We will remain in the auditorium until resource ends.
FFA members – Farm Progress Show pre-approval forms are due to Mr. Streit by 3:30 on Friday. They will not be accepted late.

The cast, crew, and pit orchestra of “Damn Yankees” will meet today during 1st resource in the auditorium.
The Dance Team is reminded to meet in the cafeteria immediately after the 3:20 dismissal bell. You need to be in your practice clothes and ready to leave. You do not need your book bags – only your purses and dance shoes.
ATTENTION ALL SOFTBALL PLAYERS: Orders for socks, visors, and turtlenecks are due to Mrs. Eller by Friday, December 15 by 3:30. Please see me if you need another form.
REMINDER TO ALL SOFTBALL PLAYERS: Your Krispy Kreme forms and money are due to Mrs. Eller on Monday, December 18 by noon. Please keep working on our fund raiser by asking family, friends, teachers, and other staff members in all buildings. See Mrs. Eller if you need more forms.

Attention Seniors: If you are planning to major in an agriculture related field, applications are now available for the Hintzche Fertilizer Scholarship. The deadline is 2/16/07 and award is for $1,000. You must have a 3.0 GPA or better to be eligible. See Mr. Sauter for details.
Juniors, if you would be interested in being an Illinois governmental intern during you senior year, you should stop in the guidance office for a program application. Deadline for applying for this program is April 7, 2007 but you are encouraged to begin the process early, as it is fairly lengthy.

The Academic Team ended Prairie River League play last night at Riverdale. The Varsity lost to Newman 104-93, but beat Bureau Valley 99-65 and defeated Riverdale 60-34. Will Klein was high toss-up scorer with 5, Andrew Schultz added 4, Katie Klein scored 3, Alex Setters scored 2 and Brock Ehlers scored 1. Out of the 10 All Prairie River League team members, 3 were from Amboy. Will Klein got 2nd place scoring 22 toss-ups during the 4 meet series – 1 less than the top scorer. Andrew Schultz got 5th place and Katie Klein placed 10th. The Fresh-Soph statistics are not available, but they won both matches last night.
Congratulations to the cast of “Damn Yankees”. We will have a meeting for the cast and crew next Wednesday, Dec. 13, during 1st resource, in the auditorium.
Anybody who would like to be a crew member for “Damn Yankees” should sign-up in the office by this Friday, Dec. 8.
Band, chorus, and flag corps members should pick up their fruit order today immediately after school in the auditorium.

Student Council will be collecting canned goods until Thursday, Dec.7. Our goal will be 750 cans. A prize will be announced at a later date for the whole school, if we meet this goal. There will also be a prize for the class that collects the most cans.
Attention Seniors: Although there are still no individual PSAE result sheets available, you can check in the guidance office starting today, to see if you qualified to be exempt from all or half of your finals. If you are exempt from half of your finals, you will have to let Mr. Sauter know by Friday, in writing, what finals you will be taking, otherwise he will choose, and we all know that won’t be pretty!
Seniors who will be attending Sauk next semester as a dual enrollment student must stop in the guidance office to complete Sauk’s dual enrollment forms, which were just received. Failure to do this will mean the loss of the ACE grant which covers ½ of your tuition.
Attention Seniors who are planning to attend the University of Illinois next fall. The Children of a Veteran Scholarship is a four-year tuition scholarship for students whose parent or grandparent served in an armed conflict. The deadline is 3/1/07. Last year one of our students won this award and is now attending U of I tuition free for four years. See Mr. Sauter for details.

To be eligible you must be planning to major in engineering, have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 29 in math and 25 in English. The award will be for a minimum of $1,000 but could be higher. Deadline is 1/19/07.
Attention Juniors: The Discover Card Scholarship is available and to be eligible you must have a 2.75 GPA or better and must have overcome a significant obstacle in your life. Minimum award is $2,500. Deadline is 1/31/07. See Mr. Sauter for details.

The Varsity Girls Basketball team posted a 43-37 win over Riverdale last night. Paige Lovgren led the Lady Clippers with 15 points. Lauren Liebing added 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Ebony Harrison had 14 rebounds.
Band and chorus members are reminded to meet in the auditorium during 2nd resource today for a combined rehearsal. Teachers received the list of names last week.
Band, chorus, and flag corps members should turn in their fruit fundraiser forms and money to Mrs. Mekeel today.
Dance team will practice tonight from 6:30-8:00.
Chorus members singing the National Anthem at tonight’s wrestling match should meet in the auditorium at 5:30 p.m.

The Academic Team continued conference play last night at Fulton. The F/S won both of their matches. They defeated Erie with a score of 80-55, and beat Morrison 95-55. Zack Knoll scored 5 toss-ups, Sean Klein scored 2, Maggie McConville scored 2 and A.J. Katzberg scored 2. The varsity defeated Riverdale with a score of 145-65. They lost to Morrison 240-80. Will Klein was high toss-up scorer with 5. Andrew Schultz scored 4, Katie Klein scored 3 and Andy Bulfer scored 1. Their next meet is tomorrow at 5:00 her in Amboy – come cheer them on.
Congratulations to Mallory Whelchel – the winner of a $10.00 gift certificate toward a yearbook purchase from the yearbook staff survey. Please stop in to room 209 and see Ms. Yeske to receive your gift certificate. Thanks to all students who answered the questionnaire. There is a general meeting for anyone interested in being a mat manager today at 11:30 in the gym.
The Fall Athletic Banquet is tonight at 6:30 p.m. You need to bring a meat dish, dish to pass and your own table service.
The Student Council will be selling Clipper drawstring bags during lunch through next week. They will be sold at most home events and can be purchased through Mrs. Lindenmeyer or Britainy Ohlendorf.
There is a sign-up sheet for anyone interested in taking a fan bus to the football game in Hampshire on Saturday. The bus would leave around 10:30 a.m. and be home around 5:00 p.m.. It will cost $5.00 to ride and must be paid when you sign-up. We will have to have 35 to 40 kids sign-up in order to pay for the bus. You must sign-up and pay by Wednesday before you leave school.

Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the Burger King Scholarship Award. This scholarship is open to students who work a minimum of 15 hours per week, have a 2.5 GPA or better, and who can demonstrate a financial need. The award is for $1,000 and the deadline is 12/01/06.

The varsity volleyball team defeated Bureau Valley in 3 games last night 11-25, 25-20, 30-28. Lauren Liebing had 11 kills, 5 digs, 13 service points, 1 assist and 1 block; Jeri Payne had 6 kills, 7 digs, 4 service points and 1 ace; Ebony Harrison had 5 kills, 7 digs, 3 blocks, 1 assist and 7 service points; Nicole Ely had 14 assists, 1 kill and 3 service points; Britainy Ohlendorf had 5 digs and 2 service points, Michelle Apple had 6 assists, 4 digs and 1 service point; and Sheena Kemp had 9 digs.
There are many students turning in lunch money without their ID number on the check. Please be sure to put your number on your deposit to ensure the money is posted to the correct amount.

We will be ordering playoff shirts this year. If you want to order a long sleeved t-shirt, you will have to pre-order that shirt by 3:20 today. They will be $20.00. Yearbook Staff. A software training night is scheduled for today after school.

The Teen Activity Center is sponsoring a trip to the Asylum of Mad Dreams in Morrison this Saturday, Oct. 21. The boys’ golf team finished 13th at the regional match yesterday. Dylan Pearson finished with a 93, Andy Schultz 95, Carson Ross 98, and Justin Burke a 99.
The FFA Land Use Team placed 2nd at the section contest yesterday. Andy Bulfer and Morgan Spangler were in the top ten. The team now goes to the state contest next Tuesday.
There will be a yearbook staff meeting in Ms. Yeske’s room today during 2nd resource. Sign-up for yearbook committees and for football concessions will be done. Freshmen and sophomores please eat lunch during 1st resource so you can attend the meeting. You will need to come and get a pass in the morning to leave 2nd resource.
Dance team will practice tonight from 6:30-8:30. Please note the time change.

The varsity golf team finished 8th at their conference match yesterday with a team total of 368. Carson Ross was low with an 83. JV finished 4th with a 389 and Josh Becker was 3rd place overall medalist with an 87.
Aprille Froelich finished in 6th place at the Trac 8 Conference Cross Country meet yesterday and Jessica Schnaiter finished 7th.
