Results from the Princeton Cross Country Invite are as follows: Boys FS (2 miles) – Jon Morrissey 29th; Nick Temes 67th and Taylor Daniels 79th. Girls varsity (3 miles) – Courtney Olson 16th; Erin Blackburn 67th; Anna Schulz 70th; Katie O’Rorke 101st; and Carmen Ruchti 109th. The girls placed 12th out of 24 teams. Boys varsity (3 miles) – Laramie Potts 66th; Wayland Froelich 82nd; and Travis Full 88th.
The following students need to see Mrs. Gelander today: Josh Jacobs, Travis Full, Dustin Mathesius, Jessica Stewart, Audrey Waechter, Steffanie Maxwel, Theron Green, Paige Ellis, Kim Rios, Matt Shoemaker, Cody Shaw, Mallory Whelchel, and Kevin Englund.
The flag corps will practice today from 3:30-4:00 p.m. in the auditorium. The next rehearsal will be Wednesday from 7:30-8:00 a.m. an 3:30-4:00 p.m., with Katie O’Rorke and Anna Schulz meeting at 5:00 p.m.
Attention All Freshmen: We will be working on the float today after school until 5:30 p.m. If you need the location, ask your resource teacher. If you need a ride, see Mrs. Becker or let Lincoln Jamroch know.
Attention float builders of all classes: Free cardboard is available to anyone, but it must be picked up by tomorrow after school. See Mrs. Becker to get some.
The senior class election scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled, because only four petitions were taken for office. The Senior Class officers are:

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS AND FACULTY: Are you interested in traveling to Costa Rica or Mexico in June 2008? Please come to a very important informational and organizational meeting on Tuesday, September 11 at 7:00 in Room 104. Students please ask your parent/guardian to be there too. We will be choosing our trip, discussing costs, and organizing fund raisers to make the trip affordable. Anyone who is a freshman or older may travel. You do not have to be a Spanish student! See Mrs. Eller for more details.
Any organization interested in painting a window for Homecoming must get a form in the office by Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The Homecoming Parade sign-up sheet is now in the office. All activities and clubs are encouraged to enter in the parade. You must be signed up on or before Sept. 15. If you have any questions, please talk to Nathan Draper or Mrs. Lindenmeyer. Please note that band members enrolled in the class or independent study will not be allowed to be on any floats. Exceptions will be made for varsity football players and cheerleaders and color guard members.
Art Club begins Thursday, Sept. 20 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. See Mrs. Cleary for a permission form.
Any Junior or Senior student with a demonstrated interest in graphic design or commercial illustration should see Mr. Sauter ASAP about a possible visit to the American Academy of Art in Chicago.
Seniors who are members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Sublette and who may need a loan for college, should stop in the guidance office for information on the Dinges Memorial Fund loan program. The deadline is 9/15/07.
Seniors, if you have been heavily involved in community service projects, you are eligible to compete for the Prudential Spirit of the Community Scholarship. The award is for $1,000 and the deadline for application is 10/31/07. See Mr. Sauter for details.
Attentions Seniors: If you have at least a 3.0 GPA and have participated in at least one high school sport, you are eligible to apply for Wendy’s restaurant’s high school Heisman Award. This is a recognition award, not a monetary award. However, Wendy’s gift cards will be given to many of the applicants. The deadline for applying is 10/1/07 and applicants must be done online. See Mr. Sauter for details.

Student Council will be collecting canned goods until Thursday, Dec.7. Our goal will be 750 cans. A prize will be announced at a later date for the whole school, if we meet this goal. There will also be a prize for the class that collects the most cans.
Attention Seniors: Although there are still no individual PSAE result sheets available, you can check in the guidance office starting today, to see if you qualified to be exempt from all or half of your finals. If you are exempt from half of your finals, you will have to let Mr. Sauter know by Friday, in writing, what finals you will be taking, otherwise he will choose, and we all know that won’t be pretty!
Seniors who will be attending Sauk next semester as a dual enrollment student must stop in the guidance office to complete Sauk’s dual enrollment forms, which were just received. Failure to do this will mean the loss of the ACE grant which covers ½ of your tuition.
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available in the guidance office for the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship. To be eligible you must be planning to major in engineering, have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 29 in math and 25 in English. The award will be for a minimum of $1,000 but could be higher. Deadline is 1/19/07.
Attention Juniors: The Discover Card Scholarship is available and to be eligible you must have a 2.75 GPA or better and must have overcome a significant obstacle in your life. Minimum award is $2,500. Deadline is 1/31/07. See Mr. Sauter for details.
Attention Seniors: Applications are available in the guidance office for a new scholarship, the Odd Fellows Scholarship. The Oddfellows is a service organization, like Kiwanis, and their scholarship is for a minimum of $500 but could go to $1,000. The deadline is 3/1/07.
Attention Seniors: Applications are now available for the National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarship. To be eligible for this award you must hold a current hunting license and have a 3.0 GPA. The award can range from $250 to $1,000. The deadline is 2/1/07. See Mr. Sauter for details.

Attention Freshmen: On Tuesday, Nov. 14, we will be administering the Stanford math test to all freshmen. On that day, you must be in the auditorium at 8:20 a.m. You will need to bring your calculator and two #2 pencils. Be sure to bring a book or magazine to the test so that you will have something to read if you finish a test early.
Attention all softball players: There will be an informational meeting for all girls interested in playing softball this year. The meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 15, during 2nd resource in the auditorium. If you need to switch lunches, please see Mrs. Eller for a pass. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Mrs. Eller on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday next week.

The girls cross country team finished 14th out of 20 teams at Sectionals on Saturday. Aprille Froelich finished 62nd, Courtney Olson 74th, Jessica Schnaiter 93rd, Erin Blackburn 97th, Rebecca Vaessen 126th, Anna Schulz 144th, and Katie O’Rorke 151st. Luke Delong finished 60th and Nathan Stevens 69th.

The Girls Cross Country team finished in 5th place at Regionals (qualified for Sectionals) over the weekend. Aprille Froelich was Amboy’s top finisher at 14th; Courtney Olson, 16th; Jessica Schnaiter, 21st; Erin Blackburn, 32nd; Anna Schulz, 39th; Katie O’Rorke, 47th; and Rebecca Vaessen, 49th. Three boys qualified for Sectionals Luke DeLong, 21st; Nate Stevens, 24th; and Wayland Froelich, 33rd. Travis Full finished 46th.
Picture retakes are in and can be picked up in the office.
The freshmen volleyball team needs to meet in the gym during 1st resource today.

Attention Seniors: Information is now available in the guidance office for the Wal-Mart Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship and the deadline for application is 1-12-07. This is a national competition, but last year we had two students win these scholarships. It is worth going after this one.
Attention Seniors: There are two new scholarship opportunities in the guidance office. The American Society of Civil Engineers Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship for students planning to major in civil engineering. The deadline is April 1, 2007.
The Lincolnland Legends Scholarship is an essay competition open to all students planning to attend college. The deadline is Dec. 1, 2006 and the amount is $2,500.
Attention Seniors: Application information is now available in the guidance office for two new scholarships. The first of these is the Coca Cola Scholarship. This is a national scholarship and the minimum award is $10,000. The deadline is 10/31/06. An Amboy student has previously won one of these awards.
The second scholarship is the Prudential Spirit of the Community Award. This is also a national competition. The deadline for this application is also 10/31/06 and the maximum award is $6,000.00. Please see the guidance office if you have any questions about either of these scholarships.
Seniors with critical financial need for college tuition may apply for the Horatio Alger scholarship. The deadline is Oct. 30, 2006, and the awards can vary from $1,000 to $20,000. A minimum 2.0 GPA is required to be eligible. See the guidance office for further information.

Attention Female Students: Again this year will be offering the Healthy Relationship programs to any interested young ladies. This program is run by counselors from the YWCA and meets each Wednesday. The program will begin Oct. 11th , and you must sign up in the guidance office in order to participate.

The Amboy High School track will be closed to the public starting the week of May 30, 2006 for track resurfacing. It is expected to take less than 1 week, weather permitting. If the gates are unlocked, it will be o.k. to walk on once again. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Our foreign exchange students will soon be heading to their homelands. Be sure to let them know how much you have enjoyed having them in our school. Tuesday has been declared Taiwan and Romania Day, wear red, white and blue to honor Julie Wu or blue, green and red to honor Sevim or be adventurous and wear them all.
Any Key Club members who are interested in helping set up at the Dixon Country Concert this summer need to sign up in Mr. Johnson’s office.
Seniors attending college in the fall – remember to fill out a transcript request to have your final transcript sent to your college over the summer. Please do this before your last day.

Attention Seniors: Graduation practice will be held in the gymnasium on Friday, May 26 at 1:30. Seniors, you need to be in attendance.
KSB is providing sports physicals for Amboy athletes on June 1 at 4:00-6:45 p.m. at Town Square Center (2nd Street entrance) in Dixon. The cost is $15.00 and 100% of the fees collected will be donated back to the school. Pick up the information in the office.
